That’s My Dad
Written by: Candy Pfeifer
Royalty I
Verse I
He started out as singer, as his dad had done before
Just a boy with a Bible, a guitar, and not much more.
His mom and dad worked long and hard just to keep the family fed.
Although times were tough, and money tight they still believed in what God said.
Verse II
He said, “{Raise a child in the way he should go, and he will not depart.
This boy with his Bible, was called to preach and made a brand new start.
He would preach the Word with passion, didn’t care what he got paid.
Quoted scripture by the chapter, wanting to see another soul saved.
Chorus
That’s my dad
Blessed his children with all that he had.
I’m so glad
God gave me such a wonderful dad.
Verse III
He loved his God, his wife, and his kids and people of every race.
Like circuit rides back in the day he would travel from place to place.
Effecting lives everywhere he went, proclaiming the truth of God’s Word.
Freely praising and shouting glory broke chains of bondage in all who heard.
Verse IV
I watched my mother at the bedside, of the man she’d loved for years.
Three generations and extended family stood in silence with eyes full of tears.
On that November day my dad would take his last breath, as his angels stood ready for flight.
What he left on this earth was a room full of warriors with a passion for Jesus Christ.
Chorus
Bridge
The last faint words I heard him say
Were “Carry the banner” then he slipped away.
Chorus
That’s my dad,
Blessed his children with all that he had.
I’m so glad
God gave me such a wonderful dad.
